KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 (Bernama) — Malaysia has the capacity and potential to become a market leader in the export of processed food and beverages to the Asia Pacific region, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Thursday.
Based on current trend in the region, he said, Malaysia was well placed to cater for the needs of the Asia Pacific, the third largest frozen processed food market in the world which is importing 85 per cent of its processed food requirements.
“Most interestingly, WTO (World Trade Organisation) research has shown that the largest shifts of imports of these products were observed in developing countries like China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.”

Malaysian Herbal Corporation (MHC) was incorporated in 2001 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High technology (MiGHT) to conduct and co-ordinate activities through out the value chain to promote the healthy development of the herbal industry in Malaysia.

ABOUT MALAYSIAN HERBAL CORPORATION
Background
Malaysian Herbal Corporation (MHC) was incorporated in 2001 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT). MIGHT was formed in 1993 with the entrusted mandate to undertake theTechnogical Prospecting for the country through its unique business driven consensus-building activity.
In 1998, MIGHT established the MIGHT Interest Group (MIG) in Herbal Product which comprised of key representatives from ministries, universities, research institution and key players. The MIG in Herbal Product has successfully drew up the Malaysian Herbal Industry Outlook, is a document that outlines new strategies, action plan and activities for the local herbal industry.
The establishment of Malaysian Herbal Corporation was the recommendation of the Malaysian Herbal Industry Outlook to conduct and co-ordinate activities through out the value chain to promote the healthy development of the herbal industry in Malaysia
